CWRS delivers ergonomic assessments, also known as workstation assessments, to business and employers in Maroochydore, the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Gladstone and Cairns. These assessments can be delivered in Gympie and Maryborough with travel funded from the Sunshine Coast.
Poor ergonomic practices or workstation set-up can play a significant role in the development of many preventable musculoskeletal disorders including neck and back pain, shoulder and arm pain, headaches, or occupational overuse syndrome (previously known as RSI). Many of these injuries are avoidable by implementing correct ergonomics within the workplace.
An ergonomic assessment (also known as a workstation assessment) involves analysing a person’s workstation to ensure that it is designed and set up to suit the individual, thereby reducing their risk of injury. The Occupational Therapist will attend the nominated office and provide advice in relation to an individual’s physical suitability in relation to the size and adjustability of their office chair, desk, keyboard, mouse, monitor or laptop and other organisational equipment.
In formulating recommendations, the CWRS Occupational Therapist will take into consideration the individual’s posture, physical and muscular demands, environmental factors such as lighting and work demands (repetition and pace of work) and the specifics of any reported injury.
A workstation assessment can be used to:
- promote productivity in a healthy workplace by improving work comfort and therefore speed and efficiency
- minimise the risk of injury and therefore the risk of a worker’s compensation claim
- support the return to work of a worker following injury
An ergonomic assessment usually takes around 15-30 minutes per person and can be arranged as a consultancy for multiple employees.
